ATINYMAKER

by Ng Si Ying (b. 1993) is a research attempt that originated from a desire to discover more about a material that was, and still is, very dear to Singapore and Southeast Asia—rattan. Through exhausting rattan and pushing its materiality in aesthetics and function, every work and exploration with rattan is an ongoing dialogue to rediscover the old and new relationships between material-object-man, its combination with other materials, and rattan’s purpose in our time.
